AAFP’s Congressional Bill Tracker

While there are many bills introduced in Congress every session, there are only a handful that directly impact family medicine. See which bills have the potential to impact you and where your legislators stand on the issues. If your Representative or Senators have yet to co-sponsor a piece of legislation, speak out and advocate on behalf of family medicine today!

Current Legislative Items

December 5, 2022 Action Item

The AAFP is joining other physician and non-physician provider organizations in launching an advocacy week of action to urge Congress to prevent the entire 4.5% reduction to Medicare physician payment from going into effect on January 1, 2023. Congressional negotiations are in order to finalize a package of unfinished legislative items before the end of the 117th Congress. We believe this week is a critical window of opportunity to influence the outcome of this package and ensure Congress addresses Medicare relief before they adjourn.

Tools for Participating in the Week of Action

  • Speak Out
    • Please encourage your members to utilize the new Speak Out. Even if members have already submitted a message to their elected official, the updated Speak Out has a modified ask. Previous Speak Outs have asked for averting the cuts and moving towards a long-term solution, whereas the new Speak Out is explicit in asking to stop the entire 4.5% cut.
  • Social Media
    • The AAFP has designed social media assets that should be posted by chapters and members.
      • Physician members can send pre-drafted tweets tagging their members of Congress via the Speak Out link.
